Official Relaunch of Save Our Savannahs

Hi guys,

This is site admin here– I know I don’t tend to blog much and apologize for boring you with words instead of pictures of the lovely spotted babies, but I wanted to take a moment to comment on the relaunch of Save Our Savannahs. Back in 2012, our lovely Savannahs were facing a ban within the state of Ohio due to being lumped into the exotic ban that state recently enacted. That was the catalyst which created Save Our Savannahs. We realized– as a breed community– that we needed to combat ignorance, misinformation, and plain ignorance and what better way to combat this than to show– in countless pictures and videos– that our breed was not the wild, aggressive, SCARY animal that regular Joe Q perceived. Instead, our cats are funny, silly, loving, adventurous, rambunctious and yes– cats. A cat is a a cat is a cat– a Savannah is a cat first and a Savannah second. It was time the public was educated about our breed.

And we succeeded! With the hard work of fellow breed enthusiasts, postcards sent in from residents of the state of Ohio, and this simple blog– as a community– TOGETHER, Save Our Savannahs succeeded and the Savannah cat breed was exempted from the exotic ban in that state.

Yet, here it is 2014 and our breed is more threatened then ever… The state of West Virginia just enacted their own exotic pet ban– and this (once again, history repeats itself) will lump Savannahs into the mix due to their Serval heritage. The state of California has had a recent proposal banning the ownership of Savannahs and other hybrids introduced by an out-of-state party with ulterior motives. So while we rested upon our win within Ohio, others were ramping up their attacks on our beloved Savannah cat breed.

Therefore it is apparent that Save Our Savannahs must be relaunched and as of July 9th, 2014, relaunched it is! We’re receiving countless submissions of proud Savannah cat owners and lovers and will happily share them with all of you!

I’d like to say without much ado I’ll now start posting the pics, but heck, bring on the fanfare! Back to the pics!

With a little bit of humor, Pam’s F2 Savannah shows his opinion on the recent uprisal of anti-Savannah legislation.

  1. THANK YOU TRISH FOR REMINDING US THAT OUR BABIES DON’T BELONG IN THE BAN ON EXOTICS, WE JUST LOOK WILD BUT THAT THEY ARE A DOMESTIC CAT.

  2. Please include details on how to submit photos or video links? I have some I would love to share…

    Thanks!

    • Robin– you can send pics to allearzsavannahs@gmail.com or currentallearzkittens@gmail.com. The requirements are simple– we don’t want just ‘oh cute kitty pics’– we want pics of Savannahs DOING things. Interacting with people, interacting with other types of cats, interacting with other pets, out in public, at cat shows, with seniors, with kids, etc. ❤ ❤ ❤ Oh– and label the pics your name/generation of kitty/date please 🙂

      • This whole thing is crazy. I will be sending some photos as well and writing a letter to the Senate
